JG Tigress lose Women’s final in St Vincent

Despite Indomatie Goordial-John’s useful all-round performance

Former Malteenoes, Guyana and West Indies Women’s Test Cricketer Indomatie Goordial-John picked up 3-25 from seven overs of off-spin and then returned with the bat to hit an attractive 38 in a losing effort over the weekend in her latest match in her adopted Country, St Vincent.
The 22-year-old right-hander, who has been living in the Windward Island since last year August after marrying a Vincentian, was expected to play a key role with the bat in the final of the National Women’s tournament after becoming only the second woman to ever hit a century in the history of the Island’s female cricket.
Watched by a large crowd, the slimly built batter from Unity on the East Coast of Demerara hit an attractive 38 and added 81 for the second wicket with Jean Blucher before her team JG Tigress, slumped from 91-1 to lose their last nine wickets for 56 runs, to be dismissed for 147 in 29.4 overs chasing the 210-8 off 35 overs made by Champions United Survivors.
Cordell Jack 4-17 off seven overs and Camille Garrick 4-9 conspired to undermine the JG Tigress batting.
Earlier, Cordell Jack hit a fluent 76 with 13 fours and two sixes and got support from
Samantha Lynch, whose 65 was decorated with nine fours. The pair shared a second wicket stand of 142 as the versatile Goordial-John, who played 10 Women’s ODIs between 2003 and 2005 for the West Indies, bowled impressively and got support from Terisha Lavia who captured 2- 21 off seven overs.
Goordial-John is a virtual automatic selection for St Vincent’s national team for the next regional Women’s senior tournament scheduled for Jamaica in August.
