The annual Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport and National Sports Commission (NSC) organised Triathlon is set Sunday June 1st in the Ancient County of Berbice.
The event, which is expected to be a keen contest, will see athletes swimming for 1600 meters from Blairmont on the West Coast Berbice to Amazon Caribbean Limited’s Wharf beginning at 08:00hrs.
The athletes will then cycle for 25km from Rosignol to Kingeley Village also on the West Coast before giving up the cycles and run for 5km to end at the Weldaad Project Youth Choice Building opposite the Weldaad Police Station.
Athletes will be placed into four categories, male and female juniors (17 years & under) and male and female seniors, 18 years and over.
Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded to the first three athletes to finish in each category. The cash awards being allotted for the positions will be $35,000, $25,000 and $15,000, respectively.
Persons wishing to participate can register by uplifting registration forms from any of the following persons; Gervy C. The deadline for submission of entry forms is Friday May 30 at 16:30hrs at the Colgrain Swimming Pool, Camp & Middle Streets in Georgetown.
