Three young men were yesterday granted bail after appearing in court charged with larceny by clerk or servant committed on National Hardware.
Anil Bhagwandeen, a 20-year-old bond clerk, of Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara, was granted $20,000 bail, while the other two defendants, Dinesh Seecharran, 20, a sales clerk, of Lot 20 Best Village, West Coast Demerara, and Paul Panday, a 19-year-old porter, of Cummingslodge, East Coast Demerara, were granted $75,000 bail each.
Panday was charged with stealing three numerals valued $1,816 on May 1 while being employed as a clerk of servant at National Hardware.Bhagwandeen and Seecharran were charged jointly with stealing four cordless electric grills and a polishing machine valued $243,074.
The trio was represented by Attorney-at-Law Paul Fung-A-Fat who said that as it related to Panday, the articles were found in his bag but he did not leave the building as such it was not theft, but merely an allegation that has been made against his client. As it relates to the other two defendants, Fung-A-Fat said that again, the items did not leave the building.
Police Prosecutor, Denise Griffith, she said that what matters is that the articles were moved from their positions.
The trio will reappear in court on May 29.
