Hearts of Oak Masters’ Football Club of New Amsterdam trashed Cougars FC 4-0 when the Godfrey ‘Half Man’ Eleazor memorial four-team knockout competition got underway on Tuesday at the All Saints Scot Church ground in New Amsterdam.
The Masters were all over their opponents as they took them to school on the finer aspects of the game with superb ball control and clinical passes.
The Masters, who upped their game a notch for this encounter, were led in the goal hunt by a double off the boot of Curtis Mingo while former national Sam Jones and the inform Marty Romney rocked the net once.
The Masters opened their account early in the first half when former national Sam Jones found the back of the net from the penalty spot. It was soon 2-0 as Mingo converted his first. The score remained that way until the interval.
On the resumption Mingo quickly scored his second goal before Romney complete the demolition just before the final whistle.
The competition will continue today with Arsenal opposing New Amsterdam United U-20 from 16:30 hrs at the same venue. The final is slated for Sunday beginning at 16:00 hrs.
The tournament is being coordinated by former national player Neil ‘Grizzly’ Humphrey.
