(Kaieteur News) – A 28-year-old security guard was found dead on Monday morning near a dam at ‘E’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown.
The deceased has been identified as Trelon Frank, a father of one from the ‘E’ Field Sophia squatting area.
Frank’s colleague, Shakeil Chester, speaking with reporters, said he was among the last people to see him alive. According to Chester, he met Frank on Sunday morning, when he left for home, and later returned to spend time with him.
“I came and met him yesterday morning, then he went home and came back. We were chilling and drinking a little. He left to go into town and came back, and we continued hanging out. He said he would go home and come back, but he never come back,” Chester explained.
Chester said he waited for several hours, assuming Frank had gone elsewhere and would report for work the following day.
“I saw 12 o’clock pass, then 1 o’clock pass, and I thought he probably went somewhere to enjoy himself and would come to work the next day,” he added.
However, on Monday morning, after opening the supermarket where they worked, Chester received devastating news.
“A guy came and told me he saw my friend lying at the trench corner dead,” Chester said, describing the moment as a shock.
“I didn’t expect to see my friend like that because he left alive and he was good. When I got the news this morning, it was like a shock wave,” he said.
Chester noted that Frank had been working at the supermarket for about four to five months and was living with a family friend in the area. He also revealed that Frank was found wearing the same clothing he had on the previous day.
While Chester could not determine whether there were visible marks of violence on Frank’s body, he observed that his feet appeared swollen.
He described Frank as a good, helpful, and hardworking person, saying he was unaware of him having any problems with anyone.
Chester added that Frank typically went to work and often returned to the supermarket to spend time afterward.
The circumstances surrounding Frank’s death remain unclear.
Investigations are ongoing.
