The day has finally arrived and all systems are in place for the much anticipated 11th Annual Guyana Cup 2017 Horserace Meet at the Rising Sun Turf Club, Arima Park West Cast Berbice.
With over 102 entries and thousands of turfites expected at the edge of their seats the atmosphere will be electrifying.
The prize monies have gone to $15M making it one of the richest horserace meets and sporting event in Guyana. The mega event is organized by the Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and Racing stables in collaboration with the Rising Sun Turf Club.
The feature C and lower event has some 13 entries racing for the coveted $2M and the Banks DIH Trophy over 1800M. The Jumbo Jet and Nand Persaud Karibee Rice Stables lead the entries with three each. Jumbo has Jack In MY Style, It’s My Choice and new comer Vera’s Finally out of the USA, The Karibee Rice stable will be running, Brave Sky, Honey Flow and Golden Blue Echo, Shariff enters two with defending champion Princess She’s Not and the inform Settling Star. Among the others looking to take the crown are Lady Budapest, Just Call Me Boss, Media Day, Climate Change and Bridal stone Corner.
The other races all have full entries with the E & lower 1500m race for all imported and Guyana Bred 3 years and up and those rated E class and lower for a sumptuous $1.2M winner’s purse.
This race has the likes of Red Rocket, Storm Bird, Release the Beast, Honey Flow, Climate Change, and Fire in Line, Because I Say So and Red and Lovely in contention.
The other events are the G2 and Lower race for Guyana and West Indies Bred 3Yrs Old and older animals; The H3 & lower 7 furlongs race for Guyana Bred and 4 years old West Indies bred horses for the $400,000 pay day over a distance of 1100m; The H2 and lower and 4 Yrs Old WI Bred Non – Earners, which is also open To All other Guyana and West Indies Bred 3Yrs Old & Up for the $400,000 winners money and trophy.
The Zeneyatta Memorial Guyana Bred 3years old event ; The race for 2 years old Guyana Bred horses over 1100m; the I1 and Lower gallop over 1100m; The J2 & K & Lower event and the L& Lower non winners match up both over 1100m.
Among the other animals set to compete are- Red Rocket, T&T, Isn’t She Charming, Witchipoo, Keep On Swinging, Quiet Dancer, Mid Night Blues, Got To Go, It’s My Turn, Isn’t She Charming, Cat Messiah, Super Bowl, Bigman Boss, Quiet Dancer, Marry Ann, Puppy Tail, Seven Dust, Miss Olympic, Born To Dance, Governor, Ground Gyal, Princess Saria, Natural Beauty, Genuine Risk, Fresh Dancer, Lucky Lucky, King Stanley, the Final Line, Princess Showna, Perfect Return, Wise Tom, Touch Gold, Jungle Prince, Suicide Mission, Catalena, Great Sacrifice, Release the Heat, Irish Baby, Party Time, Liquid Lion, , Natural Beauty Red Jet, Royal Son, De Rocket, I Am Back, Slim Shady, Blondy, Confusion, Daddy’s Dollar, Red Region, Massapequa Dr and Big Man In Town, Little Mcgyver, Not This Time, Irish Boy, Blue Lighting, Shoba, Back Track, Party Done, Black Devil, Physical Disturbance, Supreme Cat, Angel Eye, Little Star,Timely Business, Dwayne Solomon, Bounty Be True, Desert Landing, Irish Vision and Maximus among others.
The top Jockey along with the runner up, the top stable and champion trainer will all be presented with trophies and other incentives compliments of the organizers and Trophy Stall.
Bugle time is 12:30 hrs.
