– action swings to Pouderoyen Tarmac this Friday
A packed Mackenzie Market Tarmac went home satisfied after witnessing hosts Dave and Celena’s All Stars and Jermaine & Family Silver Bullets become the first teams to make it to the semi-finals of this year’s Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ National Playoffs.
Watched by Guinness Brand Manager Lee Baptiste, Outdoor Events Manager Mortimer Stewart, Linden Branch Manager Shondel Easton and Communications Manager Troy Peters, Linden champions Dave & Celena’s All Stars after dispatching Berbice’s East Bank Gunners 6-0 in their opening encounter, reached the last four via a 2-1 penalty shootout win against the Mining Town’s Swag Entertainment after regulation time failed to separate a nil-all deadlock.
Silver Bullets beat Georgetown’s Tucville 2-0 via a penalty shootout triumph in their first game after their clash ended 1-1 in regulation, before returning to squeeze past Melanie ‘B’ 1-0 in quarter-final action with Damian Williams’ 19th minute strike, making the difference.
They now await the outcome of next Friday’s round of matches which will be staged at the Pouderoyen Market Tarmac on the West Demerara.
The semi-finals and final will be held at Demerara Park, Thirst Park.
The winning team will receive $550,000 and the coveted trophy, runners-up$300,000 and trophy, while third and fourth placed finishers will take home $200,000 and $100,000 respectively.
