Demerara defeated Essequibo by 95 runs, while the fixture between Berbice and the President’s XI
was called off after just 3.3 overs as the Guyana Cricket Board female inter county U19 T20 tournament commenced yesterday at the Everest Cricket Club.
Demerara posted 136-9 after they were inserted in the opening game. Essequibo’s fielding was below par as they helped their opponents with 52 extras, while Casey Charles made 36. The other batters could only muster 48 runs among them as Stacy Moses claimed 3-23 from her quota of four overs, while Eylinda Abrams, Kemone Thomas and Devina Buer picked up two wickets apiece.
In reply, Essequibo were limited to 41-9 with Keesha Tucker (10) being the only batter to reach double figures. Kaysia Schultz snared 3-13, while Mandy Mangru had two.
The second match was called off at 16:10hrs due to rain. Sheneta Grimond (23) and Marian Samaroo (09) were the two batters at the crease.
The tournament will continue today at the said venue from 09:00hrs.
