The Guyana Rugby Football Union (GFRU) is reminding players that there are ongoing training sessions towards the upcoming international game to be played against Barbados on May 13, at the Garrison Field in Barbados.
Guyana will be defending their South Zone 2016 title against Barbados as well as Trinidad and Tobago in this year’s RAN XV Regional Championships.
The home game to be played against Trinidad and Tobago will be on June 10, at the National Park.
Players, whose names are not listed, but have a desire to try out are also welcomed and are being asked to register with the Head Coach.
Players will be put through their drills by the Union coaching personnel comprising Head Coach – Kenneth Grant Stuart, Assistant Coach Alton Agard, Strength and Conditioning Coaches Theodore Henry and Phillip Barrington.
Manager and Captain of the team will be confirmed after trials.
Meanwhile, training and video sessions will be conducted on the following days: Field Sessions Tuesdays & Thursdays, Video sessions Fridays, Trial matches Saturdays, Endurance and Fitness runs Sunday or Monday.
Players requiring letters for time off are asked to contact the General Secretary Ms. Petal Adams and / or the Head Coach for same to be given.
Punctuality is extremely important with weekly sessions requiring start times of 16:30 hrs, Saturday 15:30 hrs and Sunday 00:8 hrs or otherwise as may be determined by the Coaching personnel.
Guyana Men’s team is the current runner up to Mexico in the Regional RAN XV Championships as well as Current RAN VII Caribbean Champions.
