Dear Editor;
We demand inquiries, detailed investigations or what have you, into the operations of drug Lord Roger Khan, as well as the deaths of Satyadeo Sawh and Crum Ewing. My reason for asking is that, it would bring some closure to these much talked about and hotly debated, national topics. As a Guyanese I have the educated right to know, in fact all of this country’s people have a right to know, and I would not rest in my quest to get the present government to start such proceedings. Even if you carry out an ordinary man in the street survey, you would get the same response “we deserve the right to know.” Why the Granger Government, after more than a year in office cannot convene such an inquiry is beyond all of us, except, they have something to hide.
After all, while they were in opposition, the PNC led Coalition was extremely vocal about these and other matters to the point where they issued threats that person/s in the now opposition would be severely punished for these misdeeds. That same PNC group is in power and the clarion call is made out to them to convene an inquiry. Do it right now! What are you people scared of? You have the backing of a populace who are hungry for information into these matters. We are longing to know how, why and when such things took place. Can the present administration level with us? Are we to wait an eternity? These are all rhetorical and sarcastic statements. Is this administration making a fool out of us or as we commonly say making a fool of themselves? It is either one or the other; I believe it is the latter.
If we cross check with the PPP/C we will see that they had for a long time expressed their views as to the reason and cause for Dr. Walter Rodney’s death and did eventually carry out a COI. That Commission of Inquiry came to an abrupt end when facts emanating from it implicated the PNC Party as the masterminds, and the actual perpetrators of Rodney’s murder. So, in like manner this government owes it to the people to clear up all inaccuracies and untruths surrounding the above mentioned crime stories and bring the perpetrators to justice. Could this happen in the dispensation of the PNC Led Coalition, I sincerely doubt?
We hear of commissions to be set up on the veterans of this country, such as the befitting of ex-army friends of President Granger, so, why can’t the burning issues of murders and drugs trafficking be dealt with? We want to know! But like I said in an earlier article, this PNC led Coalition sings one tune when they are in opposition and a totally different one when in power. Mr Rohee in one of his press releases aptly describes The President – and I hasten to add “all of the PNC” as speaking with a “forked tongues.” Now is the time to stand up and speak like men and not mice, incidentally this is a quote from their Comrade leader Burnham.
