Police are attempting to retrieve a number of cell phones, memory cards, computers and other electronic gadgets from some thieves who broke into a businessman’s store at Anna Regina.
They have since dusted the businessman’s outlet and recorded statements.
Businessman, Goveenda Harinarine, a/k/a “Ajay”, of Reliance, Essequibo Coast, who operates “Future Electronics” said that Wednesday morning after he had was about to open his store to begin his operations for the day, he was confronted by a sizable hole which the thieves drilled to gain entry.
Harinarine said that the main door which he usually used to gain entry into the building was not tampered with. He said the thieves cut the grillwork and broke sections of concrete to create an entrance to get in and out of the building.
He has assessed his loss in electronic gadgets at about $1M.
Harinarine started to operate at Anna Regina last December. He previously operated at Reliance.
Recently, another businessman, who operated in the Anna Regina Old Market, lost over $3M worth in smart phone gadgets and accessories.
No one has been held in connection with that robbery.
