As the country celebrated its 49th Independence Anniversary yesterday, an announcement was made during President David Granger’s official inauguration, of a number of outstanding individuals who have been recognised as national awardees.
The appointments of Order of Roraima of Guyana and the Order of Service of Guyana were made by the recently elected Head of State.
Heading the list are Mayor of Georgetown, Hamilton Green, who under the Forbes Burnham People’s National Congress regime, served as Prime Minister; historian and educator Sister Mary Noel Menezes and former Chief Parliamentary Counsel Brynmor Pollard for his contributions in the field of law at the National, Regional, Commonwealth and International levels.
