Police are on the hunt for three gunmen in a car who staged a daring abduction of a 27-year old male staff of the popular Bhena’s Footwear on Regent Street.
The incident in the full view of members of the public, a few minutes before the store opened its doors for business.
Camera footage showed the abductors waiting near a parked car outside the store for their victim Waldyke Zanier to arrive for work.
They then pounced on him as he was crossing Regent Street and forced him into the car before driving away, leaving onlookers, including other staff members shocked.
A security personnel attached to the store trailed the abductors along Regent Street and caught up with them a few corners away at Orange Walk, Bourda.
After blocking their path with his car, the security staff confronted the abductors, but one of them brandished a gun and told him to back off, since it was a “family matter”.
The abductors then sped off with their victim while the store’s security man made his way to the Brickdam Police Station where he reported the matter.
Up to a few minutes ago the abducted staff was still being held captive, although he did answer his cell phone and told colleagues that he was okay and still somewhere in the city.
Video footage of the entire abduction will soon be available on this site.
