Investigators are trying to establish if it was a heated dispute for the control of marijuana sales in the Berbice River or a plain robbery that led to the murder of a Jamaican man in the Kimbia area a few days ago.
Police investigators who travelled to the area on Tuesday are in the process of gathering information about the murder of the man who has been identified as Allister Delion of Spanish Town, Jamaica.
Kaieteur News was told that Delion was a member of the Guyana National Service farming area for the past five years, carrying out agricultural activities, which includes the cultivation of marijuana.
It is alleged that he and his gang were having a dispute with another that is also engaged in similar activities in the same area.
According to a source, reports reaching the police are that the other gang invaded Delion’s camp and robbed him of about $2M, shooting him in the process.
The source said that another man from Delion’s camp is believed to have been wounded, but is reportedly seeking medical attention at an unknown location.
Since the body may be in a state of decomposition, it is not clear if it will be brought out from the location or arrangements will be made to have a post mortem done on sight and bury it right there.
“What we’re hearing is that this thing happen like two days ago. We don’t have a name or any information on who kill him,” the source told this newspaper.
“People hardly live there… most people planting ganja there,” the source added.
