Another elderly woman raped and murdered

Police are probing the murder of yet another elderly woman who lived alone.
Suroogpattie Ramlakan, 73, called Auntie Carmen, of Richmond Village, Essequibo was found
lying on the floor of her two-bedroom residence yesterday.
Her night dress was pulled above her knees and her neck bore lacerations. There were other injuries that indicated sexual assault. Detectives also found a packet of condoms below a window through which the killer(s) reportedly gained entry. A raincoat was also found at the scene.
Detectives believe that Ramlakan’s killer dragged her off her bed sometime between Thursday night and early Friday morning.
Residents later saw blood dripping from the slain woman’s floor.
Detectives said that the victim was last seen around 19:30 hrs on Thursday.
A woman, who first discovered the body, said that a pupil saw a snake attacking one of Ramlakan’s chickens and called for the pensioner. The resident stated that after going to Ramlakan’s home, she noticed the back door was ajar and saw the pensioner lying on the floor.
The dead woman’s sister, 74-year-old Sumindra, who lives in Richmond Housing Scheme, said that a child relayed the news to her. She said her sister visited her Thursday and she was in high spirits.
The sister said that her sibling never married and was childless.
Police, who are now tasked with finding another Essequibo rapist, are clueless as to who might have slain the pensioner.
Police recently arrested a La Be Alliance labourer, who reportedly confessed to raping at least 20 women from the Essequibo Coast. Investigators concluded that the suspect was the lone perpetrator.
