– Experience Centre commissioned at STARR Computer

Officials of the Lenovo Group Limited, in collaboration with local technology giant
STARR Computer Inc. and Vishnu Panday Associates, hosted a technology forum for corporate and business entities at the Pegasus Hotel on Wednesday last.
The local Information Technology (IT) officials at the event were addressed by Lenovo’s delegation that included Garret Dugger, Lenovo Ambassador; Domingo Alonso, Territory Executive, and Michael Abplanalp, Lenovo Director.
Present also were officials of Lenovo’s business partners in Guyana – STARR Computer and Vishnu Panday Assoc.
Lenovo’s Regional Ambassador, Garrett Dugger, who facilitated the programme, explained that consumers today want devices that are as unique as they are, and that’s why the company has expanded its range of devices across all platforms – laptops, desktops and tablets.
“With choice of operating system, mode, form factor and key technologies, users can choose the Lenovo product that’s perfect for them.”
One highlight of the presentation included Dugger showing the reliability of the Lenovo line of products. Spill-proof keyboards, solar and fungal resistance, military standards, and much more, were some of the thought-provoking features found in Lenovo Thinkpad laptops. It was emphasised that Lenovo is rated as one the world’s leading computer companies in terms of reliability.
Dugger also circulated many of the products so attendees could have gotten a first-hand experience of the products. A demonstration of the Lenovo Yoga tablet which features a built-in projector was also shown. This was recommended as being perfect for executives, or even families who would like to create a home theatre for the kids.

Alonso, the company works through Starr Computer Inc. and Vishnu Panday & Associates Inc as its authorized resellers and maintenance providers.
“They are certified and have the same tools as our internal sales course. Both companies have been asking us (Lenovo) to visit Guyana, and it has proven to be a great opportunity to understand and penetrate the market. These companies can supply clients with the high level of systems and corporate products,” Alonso explained.
He said the company has also entered the competitive market of cell phones which have proven to be successful.
“With the acquisition of the Motorola brand, Lenovo has become number three on the world’s Smartphone market. We have start doing business in the most populated regions of the world which include China, Russia, Brazil, India and the US. Motorola has already built solid momentum in the market, and their recent results show consumers are excited about their exceptional products that stand out for their design and simplicity,” he underscored.
President of Starr Computers Inc., Michael Mohan noted that the local IT professionals have been introduced to some of Lenovo cutting edge products, namely Servers, Laptops and Tablets. Lenovo as a manufacturer incorporates many unique designs to its products which are ideally suited for Guyana’s business sector.
STARR Computer also launched a Lenovo Experience Centre, where companies and individuals have the opportunity to test and interact with most of the items presented. Mohan emphasized that the new centre will allow potential clients to enjoy the user experience before making a purchase.
“As an Authorized Service Center STARR Computer also honours the Lenovo warranty in Guyana. Lenovo last year acquired IBM Server Division and Motorola, making them the third largest cellphone manufacturer in the world. Google also owns 6% percent shares in Lenovo. Analyss have rated Lenvo as the world’s largest Personal Computer manufacturer,” Mohan stated.
