A thief who stole a computer box from a “Pitbull bus” and tried to sell it back to the owner was caught red-handed yesterday on Duncan Street, during a sting operation that involved police from Brickdam Police Station.
According to owner of Turbo Diesel Spares on West Bank Demerara, Ronald Cappell, the career thief, had also stolen computer boxes from his establishment on December 23, last.
He was also caught but relatives begged for him and the items were returned and there were no charges. However, after being questioned and his stories were contradictory, the thief who was identified as Neil Baggot was taken into police custody.
Reports reveal that the thief carried the police on a joy ride trying to iron out his stories that never matched up. He even tried telling the police that he cleared a minibus from the wharf and was authorized to sell the computer box, something police found was false.
