‘Reds’ to host ‘Evening with Clive Lloyd’ at Sandals Resort

Immediate past President of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Sir Julian Robert Hunte will be honored in his
homeland St. Lucia on the opening day of the second Dhaka cricket Test tomorrow.
Hunte took over from Trinidadian Ken Gordon in 2007 before handing over the reins to Jamaican Dave Cameron last year and fellow St Lucian Ernest Hilaire, who served as WICB’s CEO under Hunte, who was the Foreign Minister of St. Lucia from April 2001 to 26 October 2004, was a remarkable man to work with.
Outside of cricket, Hunte, who was born on March 14 in Castries, served in several categories including St. Luica’s Ambassador to the United Nations and President of the United Nations General Assembly between 2003 and 2004.
The former Politician was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE), in recognition of his service to the Government and his people in 1979. The St. Lucia Cross (SLC) for distinguished and outstanding service. Pope John Paul II conferred the Papal Honor of Knight of the Grand Cross Pian on him in September 2004.
Hunte played cricket at a national level in St. Lucia, and participated as an administrator at the national, regional and international levels. He was President of the St. Lucia National Cricket Association and of the Windward Islands Cricket Board and Vice-President of the WICB before assuming the leadership of Governing Body for Regional cricket.
Hunte is married to Charlotte Elizabeth Jennifer Hunte and has four children and among those expected to be present at Saturday’s Ceremony at the Beasejour Stadium are WICB President Dave Cameron and former West Indies Captain and Present Chairman of the WICB selectors, Clive Lloyd.
Lloyd will be the Guest of St. Lucia based Guyanese International Sports Broadcaster Reds Perriera at an ‘Evening with Clive Lloyd’ at the Sandals Halcyon on September 16 in aid of the Sandals Foundation.
This event has been coordinated by Guyanese born OECS Public Relations Officer of Sandals Resort Dominique Fedee, who is the brother of Windwards First-Class batsman Sergio Fedee.
