…organizers plan two weeks of activities
The Rose Hall Town Anniversary and Development Organization (RHTADO) in collaboration with the Rose Hall Town Council Town Day Committee, The Jammers Boxing Gym and other stakeholders have planned a series of activities to celebrate the town’s 43rd anniversary.
The theme of the celebrations is ‘Keeping Our Community Clean in 2013.’
The activities will be held from September 20 and will culminate on September 28.
According to coordinator Andrew Griffith, a number of initiatives have been planned for the period. A grand opening ceremony is planned while there will be a number of sporting events that would include boxing, cycling, athletics and other outdoor events.
The celebrations will be highlighted by a grand Street Fair and Exhibition. Other activities on the programme include Spelling B competition, Senior Citizens Day, and Kids Day.
There is the opening ceremony on Friday at the Rose Hall Town Arch beginning at 16:00 hrs. On Saturday the big street fair and exhibition is planned from 12:00 hrs, until 21:00 hrs. This will roll into the grand Stag Beer Fete and after party which will be held from 20:00 hrs at the Area H Municipal Ground, Rose Hall Town. Music will be supplied by Slingers International Sounds.
On the morning of September 22, there will be a Beach Bash at the Rose Hall Town Beach, before persons head to a Church Service at 17:00 hrs at the Rose Hall Town Arch.
The next activity is set for September 24, which is the annual Spelling B Competition involving schools in the catchment area at the Rose Hall Town Primary School.
September 25 is Senior Citizens Day which will see the senior citizens in the town being pampered, treated and feted.
September 26 will be the Service and Awards Ceremony, where a number of outstanding residents including the 10th Mayor William Hendrax and former Town Clerk Jenny Allicock will be honoured.
September 27 is reserved for lecture on Domestic Violence at the Port Mourant Rehabilitation Centre. The activities are expected to culminate on Saturday with a night of Boxing and other sporting activities which will feature pugilists from Berbice and Georgetown.
A number of organisations have so far indicated their willingness to be a part of the activities including Lucky Dollar, Home Line Furnishing, Stag Beer and Wynettes Beauty Salon among others.
Patrons are reminded that the official Store for Rose Hall Town Week 2013 is Lucky Dollar Rose Hall Branch.
According to Griffith this year initiative plans to be bigger and better than before.
Rose Hall town was founded on September 20, 1970.
