Fourth Fitness Paradise Gym C/ships & Awards fixed for June 9

Members of one of Guyana’s leading Gym, Fitness Paradise, will have the opportunity to flex their muscles on stage in a club setting whilst many others will be rewarded for their contributions to the Gym at their 4th Annual Gym Championships and Awards presentation come Sunday June 9. 2013.

The venue for this event, which is expected to be a quality night of muscle flexing and expression of gratitude, is the Theatre Guild Playhouse, Kingston, Georgetown with activities getting underway at 19:00hrs.
This event is making a grand return after some 10 years, the last such spectacle was held at the Pegasus Hotel to a capacity house.
Fitness Paradise Gym is located on the roof of the Brandsville Hotel, Pike Street, Campbellville. This one of a kind, closely knitted gym has developed a reputation for both innovative events and a seemingly unending supply of female bodybuilding talent.
The list of female athletes stretches way back to the 1980s and includes such names as Donna Vieira, Donna Blackmoore, Jay Small, Cheryl Small, Maxine Forbes, Sandy Griffith, Alana Pollard, Gillian Griffith, Simone Peters, Tamika Babb, Jewel Choy, June White, Roxanne Stephen and Geraldine Cox.
More recently, the likes of Shawnell Warner and Chelan Yhap have been carrying the female Fitness Paradise torch at national events with encouraging success.
Come June 9, the tradition of innovative events and strong female participation will continue in even more prominent fashion and is a must be at event for fans and lovers of the sport apart from gym members.
Established more than 30 years ago at its Almond Street location, Fitness Paradise Gym has attracted a wide and varied clientele. The late Minister of Government Dr. Desrey Fox was one of the strongest and most endearing and inspiring female members of the gym.
Ms. Fox was known as much for her ready laughter as for her willingness to do heavy squats with the men in the gym. At its current Brandsville location, the gym now utilises trainers who are on duty from 05:00hrs to 21:00hrs in order to give to members the level of guidance and attention needed to enable them to achieve their exercise and fitness objectives.
The 4th Annual Gym Championships and Gym Awards will be declared open by Director of Prisons Mr. Dale Erskine and patrons will be treated to a menu of male and female bodybuilding events – the Mr. Hot Body, the Mr. Fitness Paradise, the Miss Fitness Paradise Best Legs and Miss Fitness Paradise Bikini contests along with the Gym Awards.
