Dear Sir:
I wish to express a hearty “thank you” to Mr. Vishnu Bisram for his many contributions to the “Waterfalls Newspaper.” His contributions are sometimes amusing, sometimes controversial, but always informative.
Mr. Bisram’s pen made a friendly slip in his article of February 12, 2012 when he informed us that the newly appointed Judge Pam Jackman-Brown of New York “….became the ONLY Guyanese American to be elected to a Judgeship…” Maybe my friend meant to say…. “in NEW YORK”.
I respectfully and humbly inform Mr. Bisram that I was appointed by Governor Lawton Chiles to the Brevard County Bench, 18th Judicial Circuit of Florida in 1993. I was elected unopposed in 1994, was victorious in a hotly contested three way reelection campaign in 1998, and I was reelected unopposed in 2004 and 2010. Prior to becoming a Judge, I was an Assistant State Attorney, Felony Division, in the 18th Judicial Circuit, Florida. Next year, I will be celebrating my 20th year on the Bench.
I am a graduate of the Anna Regina Government Secondary School, Essequibo Coast. I earned my B.A. from Howard University, Washington D.C., with honors of Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude. I earned my Juris Doctor Degree from the Catholic University School of Law, Washington D.C.
I refer Mr. Bisram to the following articles:

My fellow Guyanese, Hon. Judge Pam Jackman-Brown deserves the highest commendation. Her stellar accomplishments are a source of pride to every Guyanese. I can well imagine the innumerable obstacles she had to overcome. Hon. Judge Pam Jackman-Brown, I salute you.
A very special recognition to your Blessed parents. In my own life I owe a deep debt of gratitude to my dearly departed parents. It was they who tilled the soil. It was they who planted the crop. I merely reaped the harvest. May God always Bless you to be safe in your position and to be true to your Oath of Office.
To another Guyanese, Hon. Justice Kenneth Benjamin, I extend my most heartfelt congratulations. Kenneth was recently appointed Chief Justice of Belize. The Honorable Chief Justice is about to embark on a historic legal undertaking by conducting the first ever Bench Trial, trial without a Jury, in a criminal case. Justice Benjamin you are a shining star of Guyana.
While we are in Belize, it is imperative that yet another Guyanese be recognized for his superior accomplishments. For several years past, the Director of Public Prosecution in Belize was a Guyanese, Mr. Lutchman Sooknandan. Mr. Sooknandan is my boyhood friend [grow mattie] from Anna Regina on
I urge Guyanese everywhere to stand in recognition of our respected Guyanese, Judge Pam Jackman-Brown of New York, Hon. Chief Justice Kenneth Benjamin, and Mr. Lutchman Sooknandan, former Director of Public Prosecution, Belize.
God Bless,
A. B. Majeed
