– Sam Hinds is Prime Ministerial candidate
PPPC Presidential candidate Donald Ramotar last evening promised supporters that the PPP/C will return to power come November 28, during yesterday’s rally at the Lui Ken Pen Square on Burnham Drive, Linden, where he introduced the massive crowd to prime ministerial candidate Samuel Hinds.
“We have already created a platform for us to go into the future.
And for us to go into the future we will need strong people to go with us,” the PPP presidential candidate said.
“Tonight I am telling you that I have chosen a man to run with me as the prime ministerial candidate. He has indicated his desire to continue to work hard on behalf of the people of this country; (he is) Comrade Samuel Archibald Hinds.”
He noted that Hinds has given yeoman service to Guyana and he has “the energy, the ability and the desire to continue to serve our country,” and that he wanted Hinds with him as they take Guyana to the next level.
“We built and restored this country in a hostile atmosphere; slow fire and more fire and all other things like that, but now we have achieved tremendously, and we must go forward to new levels. I spoke of the transportation revolution that is taking place all over the world. The fact
that we have to import in larger quantities and export in larger quantities…there are no longer making small ships, so we have to develop deep water harbours to accommodate bigger ships, and we will also build a new airport with longer runways to facilitate the landing of larger planes.
“The dream of making our country arrive to full potential is not far away. In the new world ahead of us we have to get ready to work at a very fast rate….Region Ten can expect that they will be a part of the centre of the development of this country.
“Immediately on coming to Government we will negotiate, encourage and press the two bauxite companies that operate here to expand their production, to develop new products to have value added to our bauxite industry. And we expect that we will succeed in pressing them in this direction,” Ramotar said.
The PPP Presidential Candidate also promised to “almost immediately” create almost 2000 new jobs in the bauxite industry.
Ramotar also spoke of the time not far off when aluminum and aluminum sulfate would be exported from Guyana, and promised the enthusiastic crowd that the One Laptop Per Family initiative started by President Jagdeo will be fulfilled.
Continuing to address the crowd which was clearly in celebratory mood, waving flags and gyrating to the musical entertainment that formed a huge part of the proceedings, Ramotar stated confidently that judging from the turnout, Linden was within their grasp.
President Bharrat Jagdeo, in his brief remarks said that it is inevitable another PPPC victory is unstoppable. “We will make Donald Ramotar the next President of Guyana.”
Jagdeo then lashed out at the media, reiterating what he had said before of them being vultures and carrion crows. He boasted of cussing out the media.
Other speakers included Jaffar Mohammed, Phillip Bynoe, Maylene Charter, Sherry Fiffe and Carolyn Rodrigues. Bynoe and Jaffar extolled the virtues of the PPP/C and Jaffar said that the PPPC was God’s choice for Guyana.
