With just one registered throw of 32.22m after two consecutive fouls, Yekinni Favourite of Princeston College was rightfully able to claim the first position in the boys under-18 Javelin ahead of Saint Stanislaus’ Muaz Insham , 29.63m at the Guyana’s Teachers Union ground, yesterday.
Ocelisa Marks had an easy win in the U-18 girls Javelin as the other two female throwers had foul throws. Marks threw 12.84m as her counterpart of Saint Stanislaus was second with 9.52m.
Saints continued to dominate in the Javelin with Michael Douglas (32.12m) first and Darroll Williams (29.76m) second in the U-16 boys.
Eventually the dominance was broken for a short period by Brickdam Secondary’s Lisa Hamilton’s effortless 15.16m throw of which Alesa Long (11.1m) of Saint Stanislaus could not match.
Brandon Stuart and Joseph Nurse did the clean sweep which ensured Saints dominated the Javelin with throws of 19.66m and 18.53m respectively.
The steam was tuned up once more in the Discuss events as Saint Stanislaus’ Ivanna Foster (12.20m) and Tavia Smith (11.62m) left no room for their opponents in the girls U-12 category; Gordon Trotman 11.76m was second to Daniel Scott’s 14.17m in the males.
Lisa Hamilton who was first in the girls Javelin was unfortunate as she was edged by Khadija Ba’s 15.8m in the girls U-16 Discuss.
Their reign continued as Travis Belgrave took the boys U-16 with 24.7m and Shamal Beaton, the boys under 14 with 22.6m.
The iron ball throw, better known as Shot Putt, saw Trevon Chase’s 9.95m winning the U-16 boys as Ba had an easy win with 7.10m for the girls.
Stuart’s 7.41m and Natesha Seymour’s 6.30m topped the event with ease as none of their opponents in the U-14 category were able to exceed 6m.
Daniel Scott’s 5.80m, was the only U-12 boy closest to 6m in the Shot Putt as Vivianna Grant threw 4.98m to win the girls U-12.
Leaping and registering the lone 6 meters in the Long Jumps was U-20 jumper, Neil Gorgon. Gorgon of Chase Academy did it with 6.02m to claim the first position in his category as his school-mate Juanita Hooper 4.78m took the top podium in the girl’s category ahead of Tenisha Duncan’s 3.38m.
Meanwhile, Winfer Gardens Primary dominated the field events in Primary Schools Inter-School Championships.
The Championships saw Winfer Garden’s, Wesley Tydall and Keion Henry jumping distances of 2.90 and 2.25 meters in the boys U-8 category as Jada Trim covered a distance 1.98m.

The girls with the same mentality as the boys concluded the sweep with leaps of 3.48m and 3m. The former leap was registered by Tanisha Boston as the latter by Alienna Wiggings.
