Dominoes lovers are in for a treat from Monday when a 27-team two-week countrywide dominoes competition organised by enthusiast Mark Walkes commences.
Teams from Georgetown, East Coast, East Bank, West Bank, West Coast, and as far as Essequibo, Linden, Berbice and further afield will all be vying for $370,000 in prize monies and trophies.
Each district will be playing within their immediate environs. The first prize will be a whopping $180,000, with the second place team receiving $100,000 with $70,000 and $20,000 set aside for the third and fourth placed teams respectively. Entrance fee is pegged at $9,000 per team with one re-entry per team. Matches are scheduled to start at 19:00hrs with the usual half hour grace period.
The finals will be played at The Girls Guide Pavilion, Brickdam on October 23 which will take the form of a family fun-day with musical entertainment provided by Blue Ribbon (The Boss) Sound System and 3 Star Atlantic One Man Band.
