The life of Glenn Lall has been placed in mortal danger. The state-owned Guyana Chronicle and the government lackeys in the private media have carried reports which have placed the life of the publisher of the Kaieteur News in danger.
By carrying a series of fictitious and fabricated stories, the agents provocateurs are seeking to accuse the publisher of this newspaper of being a snitch for the United States embassy and to have fingered persons said to be involved in the illegal drug trade.
These are all untruths and this dangerous turn of facts is believed to be intended to provoke an attack on Glenn Lall by persons in the underworld.
This, of course, is all part of the agenda to silence the Kaieteur News because of what it has been doing, exposing the many wrongs that are taking place within the society.
There are forces who do not wish for their own misdeeds to be made public; there are those who are giving away public property to their friends and who are scheming to deny persons of their legitimate rights to property. There are controversial contracts that are being awarded and which need to be investigated.
A few weeks ago, it was brought to the attention of this newspaper that there were plans to fabricate criminal accusations against the publisher of this newspaper and certain members of its staff. Immediately, this newspaper brought this matter to the attention of the public because it signaled that Guyana seemed to being going down a marshy road.
Now this most insidious campaign against the publisher of the Kaieteur News only confirms that Guyana is already on marshy ground and is likely to sink further into the morass to decadence.
This is what happens, of course when mediocrity assumes too high a position in the governance of the country.
Why this attempt to harm Glenn Lall? The reason is clear. It is well-known that Glenn Lall is not someone who can be easily bought over. He has a mind of his own and he is fearless in expressing loudly his opinions. He has seen enough of what is taking place in the country to know that there is rampant corruption in the country and this corruption is not restricted to low-levels of the public sector.
He knows that political decisions are encouraging the wrong things in Guyana and he is determined to expose what is taking place and have those who are involve identified.
Those involved are rich and they are powerful. They have enormous resources at their disposal and they were always prepared to silence those who were against them since this would prevent them for further stealing from the public purse.
Glenn Lall thus became the enemy of those who want to continue their wicked and dishonest ways. He has been a thorn in their side. He has exposed weekly, sometimes daily, the substandard work, the over priced work, the political favours that are being handed out, the disposal of state property and the connections between those benefiting and the political elite.
And so now we have reached the stage where reports are now appearing that seek to portray Lall as a snitch. The United States of America does not need Lall or anyone else to identify who are the suspected drug dealers in Guyana. Those suspicions can be had from the smallest school child. But by lying against Lall, those who are keen to see him harmed, want to set the underworld against this innocent man. They want to have him hurt.
Kaieteur News is right. If anything should befall Glenn Lall, then those behind the campaign of lies and distortions will have to be held responsible because it is clear what their intention is.
Not being able to prevent Kaieteur News exposing the corruption that is eating away at the nation’s soul, those who want to continue to do as they please are aiming their darts at the publisher of this newspaper.
