Thorough investigations are to be carried out following attempts by public servants to steal old age pensions.
The police, Auditor General’s Office and Accountant General’s department have all been called in to investigate, a joint statement released Tuesday by the Ministry of Labour, Human Services and Social Security and the Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC), said.
According to the statement, the agencies noted that there have been some discrepancies in the old age pension payment sums.
The two agencies found discrepancies, “through diligently observing evaluation processes put in place to ensure the integrity of the old age pension system.
