Dear Editor,
Desperate times call for desperate measures indeed. In Berbice, desperate measures are being taken to ensure the brainwashing continues.
In fact, it is being hyped up and heightened, as Berbicians are now seeing quite a lot more pro- government programmes on the State television here.
Never before in Berbice’s history have we been bombarded with so much pro- government programmes throughout the day, not only on State media but what is also shocking is that a private television’s newscast is now the mouthpiece of the government.
Every story aired on that news is about the ruling party and what it is doing to better our lives. No airtime is given to the opposition parties. What’s worse than one NCN? Two NCNs.
The owners of that private TV station do nothing about it because they are condoning the garbage being aired each night to make the government look good.
The owners sanction what is happening because they are hanging their mouths where the soup is leaking. If Guyanese votes change this coming election, the soup will definitely stop leaking, then they will be like a fish without water.
The ‘powers that be’ have this station wrapped around their fingers and are using it to propagandize Berbicians. He who pays the piper calls the tune…the NEW NCN.
Government officials are visiting the Berbice State media pretty often and coming on Live programmes; lots of PPP community meetings are being aired over and over, even the Statutory RDC Meetings are being aired over and over. This is a first, I never knew they broadcast RDC meetings on TV now.
Even the Opposition parties’ counsellors are shown on the broadcast giving praise to the administration. I was shocked. Have they too been brainwashed?
Scary indeed. Obviously any sensible Berbician will figure out that this is all for ‘show’. The level of desperation for votes has risen to new heights. Desperate times call for desperate measures. And desperate people will do anything during desperate times.
