Hundreds of Guyanese living and working in Barbados who have been clamouring for passport and other services will benefit from the presence of an Immigration Officer starting tomorrow.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday, Inspector Tyrone Chapman, of the Central Immigration and Passport Office is travelling to Barbados to conduct consular duties for Guyanese nationals.
“He will conduct those duties in the small conference room at the Amaryllis Beach Resort in the Garrison Historical Area, Palm Beach, Hastings, Christ Church from July 25, 2011 (tomorrow) to July 30, 2011 (Saturday) during the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.”
Guyanese living in Barbados have been without consular services since the death of long serving Honorary Consul to Barbados, Norman Faria, back in May.
He was said to be a staunch advocate of Guyanese interests in Barbados, a country where things have not always been easy for resident Guyanese. And where there has been recent movement to clamp down on illegal residency of the island state – a situation some Guyanese find themselves in.
