Guyana’s largest International duck curry competition saw an explosion of taste buds at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence, East Bank Demerara yesterday.
Thousands graced the event to get a tantalizing taste from experts who dished out the famous duck curry.
Families and friends converge to also have a fun afternoon, while children were entertained with trampoline, merry-go-round and other fun games.
Many international and local groups entered the challenging event, while booths also line d the boundaries of the event to make the atmosphere even more welcoming.
Wining a certificate and trophy in the international category was the “Jagdesh and Bissessar crew” who are also the winners of five previous Duck Curry competitions in Trinidad and Suriname as well.
They prevailed over competitors from the Britain, united states of America, Jamaica, Trinidad and Suriname, along with their local counterparts.
While in the local category Ramlakan and Sons Rice Mills won the first prize, which consisted of a trophy and $200,000.
With cahari’s on fire and duck curry wafting through the air, the contestants competed in three categories: aroma, taste, and texture.
Earlier in September “Jagdesh and Bissessar crew” were also crowned the winners of another Duck Curry competition at the Starlite Drive-In on the East Coast Demerara.
The event was sponsored by King’s Jewellery World and there were 21 local contestants and nine from overseas.
