…sister suspected to be pregnant, another claims he fathered her child
As the twist in the ‘Sharma sex probe’ continues to unfold, the two girls who presented initial affidavits countering the allegations of the 13-year-old who accused Chandra Narine Sharma of repeated rape, have since recanted.
This newspaper understands that the genesis of the countering affidavits lay in a threat to have their mother incarcerated should they support their 13-year-old sister in her allegations against Sharma.
The girls aged 5, 9, 18 and 21 as well as a cousin aged 12, were all questioned at the Eve Leary Police headquarters. They joined their 13-year-old sister and relayed tales of repeated sexual encounters with the Television Station owner and Presidential Candidate of the Justice For All Party.
This newspaper understands that upon learning of the unfolding scenario, a 12 year-old female cousin of the sisters came forward stating that she had similar encounters with Sharma.
The eldest sister is now claiming that the father of her child is C.N. Sharma and another sister appears to be pregnant but tests will have to be done to confirm this.
This newspaper was told that the 21-year-old was impregnated when she was just 13 years old and gave birth to a baby boy.
A source close to the investigation told this newspaper, “It’s hard not to believe these children; they could have never been coached to say these things.”
The two young girls were questioned and they told a very horrifying tale about the years of abuse they endured. The girls, according to sources, were being counseled by social workers attached to the Child Care and Protection Unit of the Human Services Ministry. Kaieteur News also understands that the children’s aunt has given a statement to the police in relation to the matter.
The source disclosed that the investigators will leave no stone unturned, given the prominence of the individual involved. The police will be liaising with the Director of Public Prosecutions as it relates to the institution of carnal knowledge charges.
Meanwhile, the police are still in search of the mother of the girls in question who has since disappeared.
This newspaper understands that the child’s mother was supposed to have turned up at the Child Protection Agency on Friday but never did. The police list the mother’s last known address as 43 Robb Street, Lacytown, Georgetown.
Meanwhile, Sharma remains a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital following hypertension. The TV host had to be rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation on Wednesday evening after he was taken to the Brickdam lockups.
Sharma had previously been questioned at the Eve Leary Police Station in relation to the allegations of rape leveled against him by a 13-year-old girl in a signed sworn affidavit.
This course of action by the police followed reports by the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security’s Child Care and Protection Department of multiple rapes committed on four underage sisters.
That arm of the Human Services and Social Security commenced investigations of its own after receiving reports.
The action comes in wake of revelations that a 13-year-old girl in a sworn affidavit signed by Justice of the Peace and Commissioner of Oaths to Affidavits, Lachman Ramdass, and dated April 12, 2010, recounted a most harrowing tale of repeated rape and sexual molestation of four sisters over several years.
