2010 season opens later this month
Bladen Hall Multilateral defeated Central High by 16 runs to capture the Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport 18th Annual Christmas Term Female Windball Cricket Champions Trophy 9-a-side 6 overs round robin tournament which ended recently, at the Carifesta Sports Complex.
Taking first strike in the final, Bladen Hall reached 54 without loss when the overs expired with Lucy Fields hitting a top-score of 39.

In reply, Central was restricted to 38-2 off the allotted overs. Akesha Odai made 12.
In semi final results:
Bladen Hall beat Diamond Secondary by 76 runs.
An opening partnership of 133, the highest opening stand of the tournament between L. Fields 80* and A. Thomas 44* highlighted the Bladen Hall innings.
Diamond Secondary chasing 134 for victory was dismissed for a paltry 57 in 5.3 overs with Lotoya Jarvis & Keisha Gittens each scoring 17 runs apiece.
Central High then scored a 7-run win over L’Aventure in the second semi-final.
Central High made 97-1 with A. Odai 37 not out and Towanna Thompson 30, being the principal contributors.
L’Aventure in their turn at the crease fell seven runs short, closing on 90-1. Tishona Douglas made 49 not out and Olivia Douglas 21.
In preliminary results:
Central High went down to Diamond Secondary by 7 wickets. Central High made 56-3, Ronika Phillips 18, T. Thompson 10.
Diamond Secondary replied with 57-1. Shanella James 19, Eugene Trotman 13.
Guyana Education Trust College (GETC) beat Grove Craft Centre by 8 wickets.
Grove Craft Centre compiled 65-3. GETC responded with 68-0, Marissa Williams 21, Nikita Miller 19.
Central High & Grove CC played a super over to decide who will advance to the semis.
Grove batted first and made 8-0. Central replied with 11-0.
In the playoff for third place, L’Aventure defeated Diamond Secondary by 8 wickets.
Diamond 39-2, Nikesha Sandiford 14, E Trotman 14. L’Aventure replied with 40-0, T. Douglas 19 and O. Douglas 16.
Ministry of Culture Youth & Sport, Asst Sect Admin Desryn Softleigh presented the winning trophy to Bladen Hall Multilateral School captain N. Singh, Andrew Singh Reg #3 AL Sport & Tour Promotions coordinator handed over the second place trophy to Central High skipper Onassia Legall, while Secretary of the Minister of Sport Cindy Stewart presented the third place trophy to L’Aventure captain T. Douglas.
Central High A. Odai copped the best bowling action award, while Lucy Fields of Bladen Hall was adjudged the MVP for her outstanding batting.
The 3-day competition was organised by Sports Officer attached to the Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport (MCYS) Allister Munro, who said he was very pleased with the standard and discipline of the tournament which was able to attract two new schools Guyana Education Trust College and Diamond Secondary.
He extended special thanks to the MCYS for the use of the venue and Al Sport & Tour Promotions for sponsoring the prizes and the schools that came from Region #3, 4 and Georgetown.
Meanwhile, the 2010 Windball Cricket season commences later this month with the staging of a four-team, two nights Inter Ministry-Corporation Indoor Female Windball Tournament, at the National Gymnasium.
In 2008 when the inaugural tournament was organised Western Union won after defeating Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the final played at the same venue.
