Gizmos and Gadgets opened its new superstore at 13 North Road and Wellington Street
on Monday, culminating a US$3 million investment that would provide employment for more than 50 persons.
The new store also replaces the previous Gizmos and Gadgets location at Robb and Wellington Streets.
The superstore will be introducing a new concept —matching prices with those quoted on products in stores overseas. Additionally, customers will have the option of ordering online through the company.
Minister of Tourism, Manniram Prashad, officially opened the new Superstore which was elaborately decorated. He said that the building added value and ambience to the city and such investments show vision. He said that seven new malls have opened throughout the country and developments are continuous. Everyone should be encouraged to go after dreams and aspirations in business and endeavour for success.
According to Marketing Director of GT&T, Wystan Robertson, the Gizmos and Gadgets building represents a First World concept. GT&T has grown together with the entity to promote the development of telecommunication along with various other business entities, he added.
According to the proprietor, Ravi Mangar, ten years ago his wife, Gaitri Sharma, joined with him in the cell phone business. Initially, they sold strictly cell phones and accessories.
However, in 2001 with the help of both his wife’s parents and his they developed and opened a store in the Chandra Narine Sharma (CNS) building and began dealing with quality electronics and customer-demanded variety.
He added that the second level of the store will be opened next year April and a variety of products will be offered.
The Superstore will also introduce new departments for customers. There will be Glamour, which will stock designer brand accessories, sunglasses, watches, makeup, perfumes, and handbags.
Wth over $1M in introductory giveaways, customers will enjoy slashed phone prices, gifts with every purchase and a free DVD player with every combined purchase of $100,000.
