Digicel and Wildfire Productions have done it again as they staged a sizzling concert at the National Stadium on Friday night, featuring the ‘Energy God’, Elephant Man and Jamaican songstress Tanya Stephens. Both artistes teamed up to execute a show that reeked of hot raunchy lyrics and dance moves that set the venue ablaze.
Guyanese turned out in their numbers also to view their local artistes at the Summer Flex Concert which was said to be a ‘mind stirrer’ by many who attended.
Guyana’s star performers X2 and B5-2 were the opening acts and they delivered smashing performances that left the audience thirsting for more.
Making her debut in Guyana was Jamaican singer, Tessanne Chin who sang and performed her best singles “Messenger”, “Black Books” and “Hideaway” much to the delight of her growing fan base. Though she had to leave hurriedly for an early morning flight to Jamaica, she said she enjoyed the crowd and hopes to be back in Guyana soon.
Fellow Jamaican singer Tanya Stephens heated up the stage with “Yuh Nuh Ready Fi Dis Yet”, “These Streets” and other hot singles.
The climax of the show was centered on the anticipated appearance of Elephant Man.
Like expected, he apologised thrice to the crowd for calling Guyanese thieves at his last performance.
On that occasion, a fan who was invited on stage, later found out her bag was stolen as she engaged him in a performance. At that performance, in response to his statement, the crowd became angry and rained a hail of bottles at him. On Friday night however, his performance at the concert was welcomed with cheers and dubbed as a ‘superb refresher’.
Spinning the records were DJ Wally and Cedric from Jamaica, who sent the crowd into a festive frenzy with their interlude of the hottest songs presently enjoyed in the Caribbean.
In 2008, Digicel Guyana, along with corporate sponsors Banks DIH and Caribbean Airlines, entertained Guyana with the Morgan Heritage family concert to conclude its summer sizzle promotion.
On Friday night at the D’ Summer Flex Concert 2009, Digicel revealed two new BMWs to be given away as part of its “summer promotions” and stated how persons can win them.
